Arts of the Albemarle will begin the first project in its building improvements, using funds from the Building the Arts capital campaign, on Monday, March 20 with painting of the gallery and staircase.
AoA will be closed Monday through Wednesday, March 22. The lobby area will reopen Thursday, March 22 and maintain regular hours through Saturday, March 25 for ticket sales and acceptance of new artwork for the April rehang. The gallery will reopen for visitors and sales on Monday, March 27.
Please note: Classes/workshops WILL go on as scheduled.

Since AoA opened in the renovated Chesson Department Store nine years ago, 30,000 people have visited the gallery and/or the Maguire Theatre. AoA started the capital campaign, Building the Arts, last year to raise money for building improvements, including painting, a gallery hanging system, new lighting and sound equipment in the theater and business software upgrades.
With the contributions of our generous donors, the installation of a gallery hanging system will follow the painting project. The hanging system will allow staff to remove and rehang artwork without creating holes in the walls that require patching and repainting.
April is an entire gallery rehang. With painting scheduled for the week March 20, this will affect our regularly scheduled drop off and pick up dates. In order to insure that no work is damaged, please plan to pick up ALL work currently in the gallery (including in offices) beginning Thursday evening, March 16. AFTER the Center Painters & Potters awards reception. ALL work must be removed no later than Saturday, March 18.
AoA will not be held responsible for any damages to work remaining in the gallery after Saturday, March 18.

CENTER PAINTERS & POTTERS ENTRIES-Please plan to pick up any unsold work AFTER the awards reception Thursday, March 16 at 5:00 pm. Please do not pick up your entries prior to the reception.
