Mon-Fri       July 9th-20th     10am-3pm

Ages 12-18          $250

The actor’s training is similar to that of a musician, practicing with an instrument to gain the best possible skills. It is the fine-tuning of the body – and the voice – that enables the actor to achieve the highest level of expressiveness in their art.

–Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London

We’re all familiar with vocal training to develop our voices and vocal expression— movement training for actors has the same benefits for our physical performance on stage! Join professional director, choreographer, and movement specialist Jodye Carroll Underwood for two fun and challenging weeks of focused movement training. Working from an existing script, students will explore strategies to strengthen the body, enliven the imagination, and create a characters’ physical life on the stage. The intensive will culminate with a performance for friends and family on the Maguire Theatre stage at Arts of the Albemarle.

THEATRE: Tales of the Arabian Nights (ages 8-11)

Mon-Fri              July 23rd–August 3rd     10am-3pm

Ages 8-11          $250

Explore the world of theatre, develop rehearsal skills, and meet new friends who share your love of being on stage! Open to all experience levels, this two-week intensive allows young actors to explore developing a character, working as an ensemble, and many other exciting facets of staging a live production. We’ll use a mix of theatre games, improvisation, and script work as we prepare to perform a one-act version of Tales of the Arabian Nights. The experience culminates in a performance for friends and family on the Maguire Theatre stage at Arts of the Albemarle.
